Agency in Action:

From Holding Back to Speaking Up

FREE, Three-Part Course on Zoom

Most of us don’t struggle to know what we feel— we struggle to voice it.

Can you relate to these experiences?

  • You want to give your opinion—but you hesitate and hold back.

  • You edit your words—softening your honesty until what you say barely reflects what you mean.

  • You stay quiet, smiling and nodding along.

  • Later, you replay the conversation in your mind, wishing you had said (clearly and directly) what you really meant.

Many of us learned in childhood that speaking honestly and being ourselves could come with painful consequences.

So we adapted.

  • We dimmed ourselves down.

  • We hushed our wants.

  • We learned that what felt right to do was actually the “wrong” thing to do.

And, as a result of those experiences, many of us carry the question:

“How can I be me without losing you?”

So no wonder it’s hard to trust ourselves and speak honestly.

And yet the longing remains: to be fully and authentically ourselves when we’re with others.

In this introductory series, you’ll learn simple, practical skills to help you …

Notice what gets in the way when you want to speak up, so that it can begin to shift—allowing you to express yourself with more ease.

Be with that place in you that’s carrying past experiences of being shamed, judged and criticized— so you can have your past without feeling confined by it.

Savor the moments when you do speak up, letting yourself have the body feel of that, so over time speaking honestly and freely becomes the new normal.

This isn’t about fixing yourself or pushing yourself into action.

That hesitance to speak up is there for a reason—often a protective one.

I’ll help you learn how to be with that hesitance, so over time it can soften and shift, allowing you to speak more freely, clearly and directly.

This is a gentle, body-oriented process that actually feels good.
